Montly Art Café is a monthly event held at Steep Slope Studio newly opened in Yokohama on October 23, 2006. At this event, you will meet our resident artists and their peers. From exchanging ideas to experimenting new ways of expression. The aim of Monthly Art Café is to create a new art community through dialogues on arts, society, Japan and the world over a drink.
The guest of the memorable first Monthly Art Café is Mr. Christophe Slagmuylder, the new Artistic Director of Kunsten FESTIVAL des Arts from Belgium. Kunsten FESTIVAL des Arts is worldly known as a most forward-looking arts festival with its sharp eye for identifying young talented artists from all over the world ahead of any one else in the world. The Japanese artists who have been invited to this festival are Dumb Type and Saburo Teshigawara. Although it has been a long time since they last invited a Japanese artist, Kunsten FESTIVAL des Arts is expecting to have gFive Days in Marchh by Toshiki Okada (Chelfisch), who is also a resident artist at Steep Slope Studio, for the next festival in 2007.
